Hi all,
My friends Mac was hacked recently and he believes that the ruby script he was emailed and later clicked on started the ball rolling and deleted some of his files and made his mac unusable. Is it possible to do this with a ruby script?

Yes it is. If he ran the script without analysing the contents, it may have started a persistent backdoor on his system and the attacker could have quite possibly obtained root access to the machine. From that point onward, running as root, anything would be possible.
