Computer desktop with numerous icons and a pop-up error message on a blue background.

Looking for an IPSW file? An IPSW is a iPod and iPhone software update file. In this video, learn what steps one need to take in order to change or convert a zip folder into an IPSW. Instructions, step by step, as given by the videomaker iSamm786:

1.Open your start Menu

2.Go to Control Panel

3.Open up Folder Options

4.Go to View

5.Uncheck "Hide Extensions For known File Types"

6.Rename the ZIP file to .ipsw

*If the box, "Hide Extensions For Known File Types" is already unchecked, all you have to do is change the name of the zip file to .ipsw

The next big software update for iPhone is coming sometime in April and will include a Food section in Apple News+, an easy-to-miss new Ambient Music app, Priority Notifications thanks to Apple Intelligence, and updates to apps like Mail, Photos, Podcasts, and Safari. See what else is coming to your iPhone with the iOS 18.4 update.
