DSL
I haven't tried very many different distros, but I was at a Linux installfest a while back, and a very limited machine with 750mb RAM was just flying along at great speed. The distro was CrunchBang, a Debian-based system. If anyone is looking for a light weight distro, try it out.
CrunchBang is definitely the best.
